The Park Vista Cobras erased a 12-point deficit in the final three minutes of the contest and overcame the Fort Pierce Central Cobras 13-12 on Friday night at GL Homes Stadium.
After twice reaching the red zone late in the first half, Fort Pierce Central reached the end zone on their third attempt with 56.8 seconds left in the second quarter. They were able to score on a quarterback sneak up the middle from Jake Burritt for a 6-0 lead.
FPC capitalized on a fumble recovery by linebacker Daequan Ambrister at the Park Vista 30-yard line late in the third quarter. They finished a two-play drive as running back Jaden Meizinger rushed 30 yards down the left sideline with 40.7 seconds to go to make it 12-0.
In the fourth quarter, Park Vista finally got on the scoreboard with 2:10 remaining. Wide receiver Logan Hoffman caught a 27-yard pass reception from quarterback Bryson Clark and hustled through the middle for a touchdown.
On the ensuing possession, Fort Pierce Central fumbled the ball away during the second play on their own 15-yard line at the 1:59 mark. Three plays later, Park Vista took their first lead of the game 13-12 with 1:20 left when Clark connected a 12-yard pass to wide receiver Cole Polnasek on the right hash marks. Park Vista defensive back Miles Hughes made an interception on the following FPC drive to cap the victory.
