Miami Southridge Survives Olympic Heights

     The Miami Southridge Spartans defeated the Olympic Heights Lions 17=10 on Wednesday night at Mullinax Ford Stadium. It was the second two-quarter contest for the Spartans.
     Miami Southridge showed no sign of fatigue as they roared out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. Quarterback Jaelen Willis fired a 59-yard touchdown strike to wide receiver Jerry Jaheim on the left sideline at the 6:47 mark.
     The Spartans got the ball back and scored on their second possession. Willis connected a pass up the middle to wide receiver Roscoe Parrish Jr. and he scored from 49 yards out for a 14-point margin with 3:01 left in the first.
     Olympic Heights attempted a comeback. They recovered a fumble at the Spartans 20-yard line just 31 seconds into the second quarter. Matthew Shook kicked a 33-yard field goal at 7:49.
     The Lions got the ball again on a loss of downs by Miami Southridge at their own 34-yard line midway through the quarter. Running back Trotsky Horton raced around the right end and scored from 16 yards away to cut the lead down to 14-10 with 4:30 left.
     The Spartans controlled the clock in the final three minutes of play. They got a 25-yard field goal with no time remaining in the game.
