The Miami Heat went from wire-to-wire to defeat the Portland Trail Blazers 122-111 at American Airlines Arena on Sunday night. The Heat have won seven of their last nine games. Former Heat player Hassan Whiteside made his first appearance in Miami.
In the first quarter, Miami(26-10) blew out to a 31-19 lead. They were up 65-46 at halftime. Portland(15-22) cut a little bit into the lead and were down 94-81 after three quarters.
Goran Dragic of the Heat compiled 29 points and 13 assists for a double-double. Bam Adebayo drained in 20 points and Derrick Jones Jr. added 19 points. The Trail Blazers got double-double from two players. Damian Lillard put together a game-high 34 points and 12 assists while Whiteside dropped in 21 points along with 18 rebounds.
