Jets Fly By Panthers

The Winnipeg Jets held off the Florida Panthers 5-4 in overtime on Saturday night at FLA Live Arena. The Panthers will not play another game in five days until they host the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday night.
Florida(33-27-7) had their three-game winning streak snapped. It was the second time Panthers head coach Paul Maurice faced his former team Winnipeg(37-26-3).
The Jets were able to jump to a 3-1 lead at the end of the first period. Winnipeg remained in front 4-2 at the end of the second frame.
In the third period, the Panthers mounted a comeback to tie it 4-4. Marc Staal got his third goal of the year at 33 seconds in. Matthew Tkachuk his second tally of the contest on the power play and 30th goal of the season at the 6:24 mark.
Winnipeg would get the last laugh with 28.2 seconds left in overtime to get a 5-4 victory. Kyle Connor angled a pass from the left circle and Mark Scheifele put in a rebound shot from the left of the crease for his second goal of the game.
