Panthers Outduel Golden Knights

     The Florida Panthers held off the Vegas Golden Knights 2-1 on Tuesday night at FLA Live Arena. The Panthers continued their season-long, seven-game homestand. The Golden Knights began a five-game road swing. 
     Florida(32-27-6) took a 1-0 lead at the 4:25 mark of the first period. Josh Mahura made a square pass to his right and Ryan Lomberg snapped a shot from the high slot past Adin Hill for his ninth goal of the campaign.   
     In the second period, the Cats made it 2-0 at 4:05. Nick Cousins sent the puck from the left corner. Anthony Duclair flicked a pass from the low left circle across and Aleksander Barkov put in a forehand shot from the low slot for his 17th goal of the season. Cousins collected his 100th career assist on the play. 
     Vegas(38-20-6) cut the deficit to 2-1 on the power play with 6:37 left in the second. Former Panthers player Reilly Smith passed from the left goal line to Jack Eichel on the left wing. He connected a pass to the top of the zone and Shea Theodore blasted a slap shot by Sergei Bobrovsky for his eighth goal this year.
