The Phillies are in second place in the National League East Division standings. The Fish are barely in last place inside the division.
Philadelphia(43-29) leaped out to a 1-0 lead just one batter into the contest. Park Vista High School grad Trea Turner blasted a solo home run in the top of the first over the center-field wall on a 0-1 pitch for his eighth homer of the season.
Miami(28-42) evened it up 1-1 in the bottom of the second. Connor Norby singled up the middle to score Kyle Stowers.
The Phillies reclaimed the lead 2-1 in the fourth inning. Max Kepler socked a solo homer to right field on a full count for his ninth home run of the campaign.
In the seventh inning, Philadelphia expanded it to 3-1. Turner knocked in Brandon Marsh with a base hit into left field.
The Marlins cut it to 3-2 in the bottom of the eighth. Agustin Ramirez hit a sacrifice fly into foul territory down the right-field line and Xavier Edwards crossed the plate.
It became 5-2 for the Phillies as they collected two runs in the top of the ninth. Alec Bohm singled through the left side for Rafael Marchan and Marsh to score.
