Marlins Mangle Phillies

The Miami Marlins moved by the Philadelphia Phillies 8-3 on Tuesday night at loanDepot park. Both teams continued their four-game series between each other. The contest was moved to 30 minutes earlier due to the Florida Panthers hosting the Edmonton Oilers in Sunrise for Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final.
Phillies starting pitcher Jesus Luzardo made his first appearance in Miami since the Marlins traded him to Philadelphia. Luzardo last pitched a game in Miami back on June 4, 2024.
Miami(29-42) raced out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second. Eric Wagaman belted a two-run homer to center field on a 1-1 count with Heriberto Hernandez aboard. It turned out to be Wagaman's fifth home run of the campaign.
Philadelphia(43-30) cut it to 2-1 in the top of the fourth. Trea Turner walloped a solo home run to left field on a 0-1 pitch for his ninth homer of the season.
The Phillies took a 3-2 lead in the fifth inning with two runs. Johan Rojas singled into center field and Otto Kemp reached home. Two batters later, Kyle Schwarber drove in Brandon Marsh with a base hit to left field.
In the sixth inning, the Fish chalked up three runs and leaped to a 5-3 advantage. The Marlins added one run in the bottom of the seventh and two runs in the bottom of the eighth for a five-run margin.
