The Federal Communications Commission has approved the switch of the WAXY-FM transmitter signal from the West Palm Beach market to the Miami market. The signal will move from a transmitter tower outside of Wellington on State Road 441 just south of Lantana Road to Miramar off Hallandale Beach Boulevard. The FCC rejected an argument made by Clear Channel Communications and stated the move-in will go forward.
The 104.3 FM signal was one of several radio stations sold by CBS Radio to Palm Beach Broadcasting in May 2012. Palm Beach Broadcasting changed the call letters from WEAT-FM to WMSF-FM, spun off the station and sold it to Lincoln Financial Media in late August 2012 with the intention of moving the transmitter signal to the Miami market. The station was flipped to a sports format and became 104.3 The Ticket WAXY-FM as a FM simulcast of 790 The Ticket WAXY-AM.
