LeBron James collected a double-double with 25 points and 10 rebounds as the Miami Heat won their 17th consecutive game with a 102-93 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday night at American Airlines Arena. The Heat became the first team in the NBA to clinch a playoff spot and surpassed the San Antonio Spurs for the best record in the league. They beat the Sixers for the 12th straight time.
Philadelphia(23-38) began the game on a 20-11 spurt, however Miami(46-14) responded with a 17-4 rally and led 28-24 after one quarter. The 76ers went on a 21-9 edge to start the second quarter and were up 51-47 at halftime.
Both teams stayed within three points of each other through most of the third quarter as the Heat led 76-75 at the end of the stanza. Miami scored ten straight points, which was part of a 21-6 run, and extended their lead to 97-83 with 3:19 left in the fourth quarter.
Dwyane Wade scored 22 points in 36 minutes and Chris Bosh had 16 points in 31 minutes for the Heat. Bench scoring showed up as Ray Allen got 12 points in 27 minutes and Shane Battier contributed 11 points and six rebounds in 27 minutes.
Thaddeus Young led the Sixers with 25 points in 33 minutes and Spencer Hawes added a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds in 33 minutes. Former Heat player Dorell Wright knocked down 14 points in 26 minutes and Evan Turner dropped in 10 points.
