Matt Lincoln began as the new sports director and lead sports anchor at WPEC-TV Channel 12 in West Palm Beach on Monday night. His first sportscast was on the 11 p.m. newscast. He replaced Pat Murphy who did his final sportscast at the station prior to his retirement during the 6 p.m. newscast. Lincoln comes from WWBT-TV and WRLH-TV in Richmond where he was a sports anchor.
Murphy had been the lead sports anchor at WPEC-TV since 1995.
He was set to retire from the station last summer but he put that off. Prior to
WPEC-TV, Murphy was the sports director and sports anchor at crosstown rival
WPTV-TV Channel 5 from 1983 to 1995.
