The Cardinal Gibbons Chiefs travel to Dade County and challenge the Gulliver Prep Raiders in a Class 4A regional final on Friday night. The Chiefs defeated the Raiders 29-7 in a regional semifinal game last year. The winner will take on either Lakewood or Clewiston in the state semifinal.
Cardinal Gibbons(8-2) last week shut out Pine Crest 42-0 in the regional semifinal. The Chiefs have been victorious in their last three games and outscored their opponents 331-149 this season. They are the defending Class 4A state champions and have captured a state title in two of the last three years.
The rushing attack by the Chiefs will have running backs Kamari Moulton and Willie Reed. Quarterback Dylan Rizk can occasionally run with the ball and pass to wide receivers Gabriel Morgan, Jesse Anderson, Davon Kiser, Elisha Edwards, Komani Beneby and Patrick Stepelton.
Gulliver Prep(8-1) have outscored their opponents 349-147 this year. The Raiders have won their last three contests and are undefeated in home games this season. They walloped Booker T. Washington 43-0 in a regional semifinal last week.
The Raiders will rely heavily on their passing attack with quarterback Carson Haggard. He can send passes to wide receivers De'Carlo Donaldson, Jalen Brown, Antwaan Mays and Kenny Williams down the field. Running back Sedrick Irvin is expected to get the majority of their rushing opportunities.
