Panthers Outscore Wild

The Florida Panthers defeated the Minnesota Wild 5-4 on Saturday night at FLA Live Arena. The Cats have won their first 10 home games this season and became the fourth team to accomplish that feat in NHL history. The Panthers were victorious in their 14th consecutive regular season home contest going back to April 24 last season against Carolina.
Sergei Bobrovsky improved his point streak to 10 games with a 8-0-2  record and tied the franchise record. Roberto Luongo went 9-0-1 during a 10-game stretch in 2015-16.
After Florida(13-2-3) got a backhanded goal from Owen Tippett with 2:15 left in first period, Frank Vatrano added two goals from close range for the Cats at 8:23 and 14:50 during the second period to give them a 3-1 lead. Joel Eriksson-Ek had a power-play tally for the Wild with 8:14 remaining in the second.
The first Vatrano goal was assisted by Joe Thornton. It resulted in Thornton tying Paul Coffey for 13th all-time in NHL history with his 1,531st point.
Both clubs interchanged goals during the third. Minnesota(11-6) cut the lead at the 1:55 mark of the third on a shot by Kirill Kaprizov from the low right circle and they trailed 3-2. Carter Verhaeghe collected his sixth goal of the season for Florida at 5:42.
It became a scoring fest in the last two minutes of the contest. The Wild had an extra attacker and Marcus Foligno scored with 46 seconds to go. Sam Bennett helped the Panthers on an empty-net goal with 37 seconds remaining for a 5-3 lead. Minnesota cut the deficit to 5-4 with nine seconds left on a Ryan Hartman tally.
