16 South Florida high schools advanced to the regional finals of the FHSAA Playoffs. There were 30 teams who appeared in a regional semifinal contest. 15 teams reached the third round in 2019 when all Florida schools opted in.
Palm Beach County did not have much change heading into the third round as it went from six high schools to four. Palm Beach Central, Pahokee, Cardinal Newman and Benjamin were victorious while Glades Central and Glades Day fell.
Broward County dropped dramatically from 13 representatives down to four. St. Thomas Aquinas, Cardinal Gibbons, Chaminade-Madonna and Plantation won. American Heritage, Deerfield Beach, Stranahan, Dillard, Coconut Creek, Miramar, Western, Pine Crest and Avant Garde lost.
Dade County stayed strong and went from 11 teams to eight, Miami Central, Miami Palmetto, Miami Northwestern, Miami Killian, Columbus, Gulliver Prep, Homestead and Champagnat Catholic all got victories. Booker T. Washington, Miami Edison and Florida Christian were defeated.
