Pine Crest(4-6) have a 2-5 road record this year. That did not stop them last week as they upset Immaculata-LaSalle 10-7 in a first-round game. The Panthers have been outscored 176-268 this season. They lost their final three games of the regular season prior to their playoff victory.
Quarterback Jordan Faison will lead the way for the Panthers offense. They will mostly run the ball on a majority of their plays and rarely pass. Their rushing attack consists of running backs Nicholas Amunategui, Colby Geddis, Nicholas Snyder, Corye Henry Readon and Nathan Bitar.
Cardinal Gibbons(7-2) are the defending FHSAA Class 4A state champions and have won two state titles in the last three seasons. They have outscored their opponents 289-149 this season and won two straight contests. The Chiefs are 3-2 designated as the home team with losses to defending Class 5A state champion American Heritage and defending Class 7A state champion St. Thomas Aquinas. They had a bye and did not play last week.
The Chiefs will go with quarterback Dylan Rizk, who transferred from American Heritage in Delray Beach during the offseason. Running back Kamari Moulton is expected to get his share of rushing opportunities along with Willie Reed. Rizk can connect passes to wide receivers Davon Kiser, Gabriel Morgan, Elisha Edwards, Jesse Anderson, Komani Beneby and Patrick Stepelton.
