Monarch Outlasts Miramar

     The Monarch Knights outscored the Miramar Patriots outscored the Monarch Knights 48-41 on Thursday night at Don Conkel Stadium at Coconut Creek High School. It was the second straight week that the Knights hosted a Thursday night contest at a neutral site. 
     The offense of both Miramar(0-2) and Monarch(1-1) produced heavily during the first half of play. Monarch had a 14-6 advantage early in the second quarter. 
     The Knights reached the end zone again with nine minutes remaining in the second quarter and led 20-6. The Patriots and Knights responded to each other with one touchdown each later in the frame with the Knights ahead 27-13. Miramar got a score along with a two-point conversion in the final minute of the second quarter and trailed 27-21 at halftime. 
     Miramar outscored their opponent 12-6 in the third quarter to tie it up 33-33. Monarch reclaimed the lead 40-33 midway through the fourth quarter with a score. The Patriots answered back with a touchdown and a two-point conversion and had a 41-40 lead with two minutes remaining in the fourth. The Knights would get a touchdown and picked up a two-point conversion in the final minute of the game for a 48-41.
