The Miami Heat had their home opener on Friday night at American Airlines Arena and were edged by the Charlotte Hornets 97-91. It was the first time that the Heat had a home opener without Dwyane Wade on the team roster since 2002.
Miami(1-1) got up by 15 points in the third quarter and were unable to hole the lead. They were outscored by Charlotte(2-0) 51-34 during the second half. Hassan Whiteside compiled 20 points and 15 rebounds in the loss for the Heat while Goran Dragic added 14 points and nine assists. Kemba Walker led the Hornets with 24 points.
