The Chaminade-Madonna Lions beat the Kings Academy Lions 38-10 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando on Saturday. It was the second straight state title for Chaminade-Madonna.
The first quarter belonged to Kings Academy(12-2). Defensive back Jayvon Lynn intercepted a pass at midfield and returned it 37 yards to the CM 13-yard line. Three plays later, quarterback Justin Wake threw a 14-yard pass to wide receiver Cory Croteau for a touchdown at the 7:25 mark.
TKA made it 10-0 on the first play of the second quarter. Bernie Cueto was able to kick a 37-yard field goal just four seconds in.
Chaminade-Madonna(12-2) would then compile 38 unanswered points for the rest of the contest. Defensive back Te'cory Couch intercepted a pass and returned it to the TKA 48-yard line. It led to running back Willie Davis IV scoring on a 14-yard touchdown run with 5:26 left in the quarter. They took their first lead of the game 14-10 when Davis rushed the ball in from 13 yards away with 1:05 remaining.
The CM Lions struck on their first offensive play of the third quarter 27 seconds in. Quarterback Daelen Menard connected a 71-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Elijah Canion. Menard made it 28-10 as he found wide receiver John Dunmore in the end zone on a 16-yard pass with 2:09 to go in the third.
In the fourth quarter, Kings Academy lost the ball on downs at their own 34-yard line with nine minutes left. Chaminade-Madonna finished their next possession on a 27-yard field goal from Carter Davis at the 6:05 mark for a 21-point margin. Deidrick Stanley would score on a 36-yard punt return with eight seconds remaining in the game to make it 38-10.
