The Columbus Explorers challenge the Madarin Mustangs on Saturday night for the Class 8A state championship at Camping World Stadium in Orlando.
Columbus(14-0) is undefeated and have outscored their opponents 419-105 this season. The Explorers got by Coral Gables 38-21 in the regional quarterfinal, shut out Miami Palmetto 42-0 in the regional semifinal and outscored South Dade 54-28 in the regional final. They went on the road last week for the state semifinal and topped Deerfield Beach 49-21. The Explorers will depend on their rushing attack with running backs Henry Parrish Jr. and Demetries Ford.
Mandarin(10-4) has got to the state title game for the first time and they have won their last four games. The Mustangs shut out DeLand 35-0 in a regional quarterfinal, defeated Winter Park 41-8 in a regional semifinal, beat Wekiva 19-7 in a regional final and upended Riverview Sarasota 45-31 last week in a state semifinal.
