The Miami Northwestern Bulls captured their second straight FHSAA Class 6A state championship as they blanked the Armwood Hawks 22-0 on Saturday at Camping World Stadium in Orlando. The Bulls won the title game in 2017 and edged the Hawks 21-16. Miami Northwestern matched its two consecutive state title reign that they had accomplished in 2006 and 2007.
After a scoreless first quarter, Miami Northwestern(10-5) was able to get on the scoreboard first. Defensive back Timothy Burns intercepted a pass and returned it 23 yards for a touchdown and a 7-0 lead with 5:08 left in the second quarter.
The Bulls took control in the third quarter. Quarterback Isaiah Velez connected a 65-yard touchdown pass to running back Nathaniel Noel at the 9:56 mark for a 14-0 lead.
They increased their margin to 20 points just 34 seconds later. Hawks quarterback Cam'ron Ransom fumbled the ball and Bulls linebacker Samuel Brooks returned it 56 yards for a score. Armwood(13-2) surrendered a safety with 8:12 left in the third when Ransom was sacked in the end zone and they trailed 22-0.
