The Miami/Fort Lauderdale market ratings were released and there was a minor shift by all the local competitors. Miami Sports Radio 560 WQAM-AM returned back on top of all sports format radio stations.
WQAM showed a jump up from a 0.8 to a 0.9 in December. They had a 0.9 rating during three of the four months of the Miami Dolphins regular season. The Big O Orlando Alzugaray was replaced in the midday shift by Alex Donno and Josh Friedman at the tail end of the period.
Sports Talk 790 The Ticket WAXY-AM fell from a 0.9 to a 0.6 in the month. The station surprisingly lost almost one-third of their audience during the period considering that they finished on top alone in November for the first time since April. The Miami Heat were trying to gain ground in the Eastern Conference standings.
Miami Sports 940 WINZ-AM returned to a 0.2 from a 0.3. They have measured a 0.2 in four of the last five months. They continued to depend on the University of Florida Gators Radio Network.
640 The Hurricane WMEN-AM also dropped from a 0.2 to a 0.1 this month. They have been at a 0.1 in four of the past five months. The University of Miami Hurricanes football team losing streak had an effect.
