The Atlantic Eagles travel south and take on the St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders at Brian Piccolo Stadium in Fort Lauderdale on Friday night. It is for the Region 4 championship in Class 7A.
Atlantic(8-3) stopped McArthur 13-7 in a regional semifinal last week. They beat their district rival Blanche Ely 47-16 in a rematch during the first round. The Eagles can interchange Guenson Alexis and Jacoby Dorch anytime at the quarterback position. Their main targets will be wide receivers Tyrese Blue, Jordan Cash, Javone Jackson, Tyler Burke and Rashawn Faustine. Running back Bry'yon Jones is expected to get most of the rushing attempts along with Antoine Williams and Montahj Joseph.
St. Thomas Aquinas(11-0), the 2018 Class 7A state finalist, have not lost a home playoff game since 2003. The Raiders have compiled five shutouts this year and outscored their opponents 479-108 this season. STA blanked South Broward 52-0 in the first round and handled district foe Plantation 59-19 in the second round. Running backs Jaedon Henry and Anthony Hankerson are expected to split the carries from the backfield. Quarterback Zion Turner can toss the ball to wide receivers Marcus Rosemy, Jahvante Royal and The'Andris Freeman on passing attempts.
