South Florida High Schools In Second Round

     31 South Florida high schools advanced to the second round of the 2019 FHSAA football playoffs. There were 49 representatives heading into the postseason. It is an improvement because 29 high schools moved on to the second round in 2018.
     Palm Beach County went from 12 schools to six. Palm Beach Central, Palm Beach Lakes, Atlantic and Benjamin won. American Heritage and Pahokee had a bye. Boca Raton, Palm Beach Gardens, Seminole Ridge, St. Andrew's, Santaluces and Cardinal Newman lost.
     Broward County dropped from 18 high schools to 12. Dillard, St. Thomas Aquinas, Plantation, Deerfield Beach, Cardinal Gibbons, McArthur, American Heritage and Western prevailed. Chaminade-Madonna, University School, Calvary Christian and Westminster Academy all had byes. Blanche Ely, Stoneman Douglas, Taravella, Fort Lauderdale, Stranahan and South Broward fell.
     Dade County moved down from 19 representatives to 13. Miami Central, Edison, Columbus, Miami Palmetto, Booker T. Washington, Miami Northwestern, Killian, North Miami Beach, Miami, Somerset Silver Palms and Miami Christian got victories. Gulliver Prep and Champagnat Catholic received a bye. Carol City, Coral Gables, Hialeah, South Dade, Monsignor Pace and Westminster Christian ended their seasons.
