Panthers Edge Rangers

     The Florida Panthers slipped by the New York Rangers 4-3 at BB&T Center on Saturday. Panthers head coach Joel Queeneville chalked up his 900th career win to become the second person to accomplish that feat.
     Florida(10-5-5) converted on their first power play at 2:05 of the first period. Keith Yandle angled a pass from the top of the zone to Mike Hoffman in the top right circle and he blasted a one-time slap shot by Henrik Lundqvist. Jonathan Huberdeau was also credited with an assist on the play and passed Stephen Weiss for the Panthers franchise record of career assists with 250.
     New York(8-8-2) quickly tied the contest at the 2:39 mark. Jepser Fast carried the puck into the Panthers zone. His diagonal pass to the middle was redirected by Ryan Strome from the right of the crease for his fifth goal of the campaign.
     The Panthers scored another power-play goal at 6:50. Keith Yandle forwarded the puck from the blue line. Huberdeau centered it from the left wing and Evgenii Dadonov placed a forehand shot from the slot area.
     The Rangers evened it up with 11:13 left in the first. Strome send a pass from the right wing to the high slot. Artemi Panarin snapped a shot through a screen that went past Sergei Bobrovsky for his ninth goal of the year.
     In the second period, the Blueshirts got their first lead of the contest at 5:47. Former Panther Greg McKegg made a pass from the right wing to Panarin in the high slot. He sent a lead pass to Tony DeAngelo and he scored on a wrist shot.
     The Cats made it 3-3 at the 7:51 mark. Brian Boyle shuffled the puck from the top of the right circle and Brett Connolly snapped a shot from the right circle.
     Late in the second, Florida got up 4-3 with 2:16 remaining. Dadonov was behind the Rangers cage and sent it back to Yandle on the left point. He returned the puck to him for a one-time slap shot from the low right circle for his second goal of the game and 10th goal of the season.
