The Plantation Colonels face the St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders at Brian Piccolo Stadium in a Class 7A regional semifinal on Friday night. It is the second time this season the two district rivals will meet.
Plantation(9-1) has lost only one game this year and it was to the Raiders 35-0 in Week 8. The Colonels have outscored their opponents 408-115 this season and beat Hialeah 47-35 last week in a regional quarterfinal. They will rely on their passing attack with Gerard Nesbitt at quarterback. He does have several targets to throw to that includes wide receivers Jacolby George, Carlson Armstrong, Devin Howard and wingback Mark Anthony Clark.
St. Thomas Aquinas(10-0) stands undefeated and have outscored their opponents 420-89 this year. STA has compiled five shutouts this season and they blanked South Broward 52-0 in a regional quarterfinal last week. The 2018 Class 7A state finalist have not lost a home playoff game since 2003. The Raiders expect to have quarterback Zion Turner connect passes to wide receivers Marcus Rosemy, Jahvante Royal and The'Andris Freeman. Running backs Jaedon Henry and Anthony Hankerson will get their share of rushing attempts from the backfield.
