It is a rematch of the District 15 title game as the Blanche Ely Tigers visit the Atlantic Eagles at Hilltop Stadium on Friday night in a Class 7A regional quarterfinal contest. The Eagles took the district title with a 34-16 win over the Tigers two weeks ago.
It has been a bad two weeks for Blanche Ely(7-3) as they fell to Atlantic and lost to Dillard 60-14 in the Soul Bowl last week. The Tigers look for their quarterback Javon Williams to help them march down the field. His main targets when throwing the ball will be wide receivers Darnell Deas, Courtney Gordon, Devante Deas and Tomorius Grant.
Atlantic(6-3) also does not enter this game on a win streak. They were defeated at home last week by Class 8A state finalist Columbus 27-7. The Eagles can go with either Guenson Alexis or Jacoby Dorch at the quarterback position on any play. They look to connect passes to Jordan Cash, Tyrese Blue, Javone Jackson, Tyler Burke and Rashawn Faustine. The Eagles have options at running back with Bry'yon Jones, Antoine Williams and Montahj Joseph.
