Seven South Florida high schools advanced to the state championship game of the 2019 FHSAA playoffs on Friday. There were nine teams that played in the state semifinals.
Palm Beach County had one representative in the state semifinal. Pahokee lost and there will be no team from that county in a championship game.
Broward County dropped from three schools to two. St. Thomas Aquinas and Chaminade-Madonna reached the championship contest while Deerfield Beach lost.
For the second straight round, all five Dade County schools survived. Columbus, Miami Northwestern, Booker T. Washington, Miami Central and Champagnat Catholic prevailed.
