The 2019 FHSAA football playoff brackets were issued on Sunday. There was a total of 49 high schools from the South Florida tri-county area. There were 50 schools in 2018 and 43 schools in 2017 from the three counties.
Palm Beach County is represented by 12 schools this year. They had 12 in 2018 and 13 in 2017. The central part of the county has Palm Beach Central(8A), Palm Beach Lakes(7A), Seminole Ridge(7A) and Cardinal Newman(3A). The northern area has Palm Beach Gardens(8A) and Benjamin(3A). The southern portion of Palm Beach County has Atlantic(7A), Boca Raton(8A), American Heritage(3A), St. Andrew's(3A) and Santaluces(8A). The Muck on the west side of county only has Pahokee(1A).
Broward County has 18 high schools in 2019. They had 17 last year and 12 in 2017. The north part of the county has Deerfield Beach(8A), Stoneman Douglas(8A) and Taravella(8A). The central portion includes St. Thomas Aquinas(7A), Plantation(7A), Fort Lauderdale(7A), Blanche Ely(7A), Dillard(6A), American Heritage(5A), Cardinal Gibbons(4A), Stranahan(5A), University School(4A), Calvary Christian(3A), Western(8A) and Westminster Academy(2A). The south area will have Chaminade-Madonna(3A), McArthur(7A) and South Broward(8A).
Dade County put in 19 schools in the playoffs this year. They had 21 schools in 2018 and 18 in 2017. It will include Miami Central(6A), Miami Northwestern(5A), Booker T. Washington(4A), Carol City(4A), Columbus(8A), Miami Palmetto(8A), Miami(8A), Coral Gables(8A), South Dade(8A), Hialeah(7A), North Miami Beach(5A), Killian(5A), Gulliver Prep(4A), Monsignor Pace(4A), Edison(3A), Westminster Christian(3A), Somerset Silver Palms(3A), Champagnat Catholic(2A) and Miami Christian(2A).
