Chaminade-Madonna And Florida State University High Title Preview

     The Chaminade-Madonna Lions challenge the Florida State University High Seminoles for the FHSAA Class 3A state championship. The game will be played at Gene Cox Stadium in Tallahassee on Friday night.
     Chaminade-Madonna(11-2) are the defending two-time Class 3A state champions and have appeared in the last four state title contests. They blanked Somerset Silver Palms 56-0 in the second round, shut out Calvary Christian 35-0 in the regional final and knocked off Clearwater Central Catholic 28-7 in the state semifinal. The Lions have outscored their last four opponents 171-7. The focal point of their offense will be running back Thaddius Franklin as he can rush out of the backfield by taking a direct snap. Alexander Law and Brady Kelly can both play at the quarterback position. Wide receivers Elijah Canion, Joshua Jenkins. Rony Bourdeau, Bralon Brown, Brian Dilworth and Donovan Desir can make pass receptions.
     Florida State University High(12-1) will be playing the championship game in their hometown and will not need to travel far. They are currently on an eight-game winning streak. The Seminoles lost to Kings Academy in the state semifinal last year. They took Episcopal School of Jacksonville 49-18 in the second round, edged Pensacola Catholic 21-14 in the regional final and handled Lakeland Christian 42-10 in the state semifinal. Quarterback Willie Taggart Jr. can help them march down the field. Running back Alfred Menjor will get the majority of carries followed by Emory Layerd and Taylor Gilley. Their core of wide receivers include Ahmari Harvey, Logan Brooks, George Henderson and Jahaz Morgan.
