Chaminade-Madonna Class 3A Title Three-Peat

     Chaminade-Madonna running back Thaddius Franklin had a FHSAA state championship game record 47 carries for 333 rushing yards as the Lions captured their third consecutive FHSAA Class 3A state championship with a 35-20 victory over the Florida State University High Seminoles on Friday night at Gene Cox Stadium in Tallahassee. The Lions reached the state title game for the fourth straight year.
     Chaminade-Madonna(12-2) scored on their first two possessions of the contest. Franklin finished the opening drive with a run through the right side from four yards out at 7:00.
     They added another score with 4:34 left in the first quarter. Franklin busted up the middle with a three-yard touchdown run to make it 14-0.
     Florida State University High(12-2) answered back on the first play of the ensuing drive 13 seconds later. Quarterback Willie Taggart Jr. connected an 80-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Ahmari Harvey and they trailed 14-7.
     The Lions moved it back up to a 14-point margin at 10:23 of the second quarter. Franklin plowed through the left side of the line from one yard away. He had 223 yards rushing on 28 carries by halftime.
     In the third quarter, Chaminade-Madonna reached the end zone on their first possession. Franklin sprinted up the middle on a 14-yard touchdown run at the 9:22 mark and increased the gap to 28-7.
     The Seminoles scored on the first play of the fourth quarter seven seconds in. Wide receiver George Henderson caught a 14-yard pass from Taggart and they were down 28-14.
     FSU High scored on their second straight possession and closed it to an eight-point lead at 8:31. Running back Alfred Menjor was able to race over the left tackle from one yard out.
     Franklin scored his fifth touchdown of the game for the Lions with 4:28 remaining in the fourth. He rushed up the middle from five yards away to give them a 35-20 lead.
