Dolphins Fly Over Eagles

     The Miami Dolphins overcame a 14-point deficit and topped the Philadelphia Eagles 37-31 at Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday. The Dolphins stopped a two-game losing streak and have won three of their last five games. The Eagles made their first trip to Miami in eight years.
     Eagles defensive back Ronald Darby intercepted a pass from Dolphins quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick on the first play of the contest. Philadelphia(5-7) scored on their first possession when quarterback Carson Wentz threw a swing pass to running back Miles Sanders on the left side for a 15-yard touchdown at 13:54.
     The Eagles expanded their lead to 10-0 at the 10:10 mark. Jake Elliott kicked a 48-yard field goal to finish their second drive.
     Miami(3-9) was able to score on a fourth-down play with 3:05 left in the first and cut it to 10-7. Wide receiver DeVante Parker caught a 43-yard catch on the left sideline from Fitzpatrick.
     Philly added to their margin. Elliott booted a 43-yard goal at 11:09 of the second quarter for a 13-10 lead.
     The Dolphins used a trick play on a fourth down to take the lead 14-13 with 4:40 left in the second. Holder Matt Haack threw a shovel play to kicker Jason Sanders all alone in the middle of the end zone for a score.
     The Eagles scored with six seconds remaining in the first half to go ahead 21-14. Wentz found wide receiver J.J. Arcega-Whiteside on a 15-yard touchdown pass.
     More scoring came in the second half. The Eagles pulled off an onside kick to start the third quarter. Wentz fired an 10-yard pass up the middle to wide receiver Alshon Jeffery and he dove past the goal line to give Philadelphia a 28-14 lead at the 11:44 mark.
     The Dolphins answered back to cut the gap to 28-20 at 8:45. Fitzpatrick connected a 17-yard pass to Parker in the middle right side of the end zone. Miami struck again to tight end Mike Gesicki in the back right corner of the end zone with 1:10 remaining in the third and they trailed 28-26.
     In the fourth quarter, the Fins retook the lead at 11:06 as they reached the end zone on their fifth consecutive possession. Running back Patrick Laird busted up the middle from four yards away for his first NFL touchdown. Fitzpatrick tossed a pass to Laird in the front of the end zone on a two-point conversion to go up 34-28.
     The Dolphins made it 23 unanswered points. They got a 51-yard field goal from Sanders for a 37-28 advantage with 3:37 left for a 37-28 lead.
     Philadelphia finally got on the scoreboard to stop the bleeding. Elliott put up a 37-yard field goal with 1:51 to go and they were down 37-31. Wentz threw a hail-marry pass on the final play of the game and it was picked off by defensive back Chris Lammons, a Plantation High School grad, in the back of the end zone for his first career interception.
