Former Miami Media Wins NSMA Awards

Two former Miami media members were announced by the National Sports Media Association as their yearly winners. Jody Jackson was named the Arizona Sportscaster of the Year for the first time. David O'Brien was named the Georgia Sportswriter of the Year for the second time. He received the award back in 2006.
Jackson, a University of Miami grad, began her broadcasting career at Sports Radio 560 WQAM-AM as a sports reporter and sports anchor. She moved to television as a sportscaster at WIVB-TV in Buffalo. Jackson joined Fox Sports Arizona, which is now known as Bally Sports Arizona, as a sports reporter and studio co-host. She is currently the studio host for Arizona Diamondbacks and Arizona Coyotes game broadcasts.
O' Brien was a Major League Baseball sportswriter before he arrived in South Florida. He became the Florida Marlins beat writer for the South Florida Sun-Sentinel and worked there during the 1990s and early 2000s. O'Brien then joined the Atlanta Journal-Constitution as the Atlanta Braves beat writer. He currently has the same role at The Athletic Atlanta and The Athletic MLB.
