Patriots Push By Dolphins

     The New England Patriots inched their way by the Miami Dolphins 23-21 on Sunday at Gillette Stadium. The Patriots leaped over the Dolphins for the final AFC wild-card spot with one regular season game to play. 
     New England(8-8) scored first at 7:15 of the first quarter. Quarterback Mac Jones threw a seven-yard pass to wide receiver Tyquan Thornton in the end zone. 
     In the second quarter, Miami(8-8) tied it up 7-7 on the first play of the frame. Wide receiver Tyreek Hill caught a two-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. 
     The Dolphins pulled ahead 14-7 at the 9:17 mark of the third quarter. Bridgewater tossed a two-yard touchdown pass to running back Raheem Mostert. 
     The Patriots rallied to take the lead 16-10 during the third quarter. Nick Folk booted a 49-yard field goal with 4:18 remaining. Defensive back Kyle Dugger intercepted a pass and returned it for a 39-yard score with 2:51 left in the third. 
     The Pats expanded their lead to 23-14 with 4:37 to go in the fourth quarter. Jones quickly passed to wide receiver Jakobi Meyers on the left side of the end zone from one yard away. 
     The Fins made one last attempt to come back in the contest as they reached the end zone with 1:04 left in the fourth to make it 23-21. Backup quarterback Skylar Thompson rifled a four-yard touchdown pass to tight end Mike Gesicki in the back right corner.
