Panthers Speed By Canucks

     The Florida Panthers powered by the Vancouver Canucks 4-3 at FLA Live Arena on Saturday night. It was the Panthers only home game in an eight-game stretch. The Cats are in the middle of just two home contests out of 11 games overall. 
     Vancouver(17-22-3) jumped out to a 1-0 lead on their first shot on goal at the 1:35 mark of the first period. The Panthers turned over the puck in their own zone. Jake Studnicka released a a wrist shot from above the left circle that went by Sergei Bobrovsky for his fourth goal this season. 
     Florida(20-20-4) made it 1-1 at 8:58 of the first. Gustav Forsling fired a slap shot from the left point and it was touched by Givani Smith in the crease. Ryan Lomberg put in the loose puck into the cage from the right of the crease past Spencer Martin for his fifth goal of the campaign. It was the second career assist for Smith with Florida. 
     The Canucks regained the lead 2-2 just 39 seconds into the second period. Tyler Myers snapped a shot from the right point for his first tally of the year. 
     The Panthers answered back at 1:46 to tie it 2-2. Nick Cousins guided the puck from the left wing. Josh Mahura shot the puck from the left point and Eric Staal poked it in from the top of the crease for his seventh goal with his new club. 
     It became 3-2 for the Cats as they scored on the man advantage at the 3:06 mark. Matthew Tkachuk passed from the low right circle to Brandon Montour at the top of the zone. He angled the puck to his left and Aaron Ekblad blasted a one-time slap shot from the left circle for his seventh goal. 
     Florida increased their gap to 4-2 on another power-play goal at 9:51. Ekblad took a shot from the left circle which was saved by Martin. Sam Reinhart made a square pass from the low slot and Aleksander Barkov placed in a snap shot from the inner right circle for his 11th goal of the season. 
     In the third period, Vancouver cut it down to 4-3 on the power play with 9:58 left. Quinn Hughes passed the puck from the left point and Elias Pettersson smashed a slot shot from the top of the zone. It was deflected in by Bo Horvat from the top of the crease for his 30th goal this season.
