It was a low-scoring contest during the first half. Buchholz(12-2) got out to a 3-0 lead on a 32-yard field goal from Jay Giunta with three minutes left in the first quarter. They would be up by three points at halftime.
Buchholz increased their lead to 10-0 with seven minutes to go in the third quarter on a touchdown pass. West Broward(12-2) matched it with a 79-yard touchdown run with four minutes to go in the third and they trailed 10-7.
It would become 14-10 for West Broward one minute into the fourth quarter on a nine-yard touchdown run. They extended their lead to 21-10 on a touchdown pass with five minutes remaining in the fourth. West Broward added a field goal for a 24-10 lead with two minutes to go in the quarter. Buchholz picked up a five-yard touchdown pass with under a minute left in the fourth and they were down 24-17.
