Blues Tap Panthers

     The Florida Panthers fell to the St. Louis Blues 6-2 on Saturday night at Amerant Bank Arena. The Panthers finished off a three-game homestand.
     St. Louis(14-15-3) broke out to a 1-0 lead at 9:59 of the first period. Otto Stenberg steered the puck from the left circle. Cam Fowler snapped a shot from the left point and Jake Neighbours deflected it in from the low slot by Daniil Tarasov for his ninth goal in 2025-26. It was Stenberg's first point in his NHL career. 
     In the second period, the Blues expanded it to 2-0 on the man advantage at the 1:55 mark. Robert Thomas passed from the left corner and Pavel Buchnevich sent a square pass from the left circle. Jonatan Berggren scored on a wrist shot from the low right circle for his fourth tally of the year. 
     Florida(19-14-2) made it 2-1 at 7:35 of the period. Seth Jones attempted to stuff a shot from the left side of the crease which went wide. Jesper Boqvist took a shot from the low right circle that went off the stick of A.J. Greer in the crease area past Joel Hofer. It turned out to be Greer's seventh goal this year. 
     The Panthers tied it up 2-2 on the power play with 7:15 to go in the second. Sam Bennett zipped a pass ahead from above the right circle and Brad Marchand angled a centering pass from the right goal line. Sam Reinhart placed in a forehand shot from the slot area for his 19th goal of the season. 
     It became 3-2 for St. Louis with less than a second left in the frame. Berggren cycled the puck from the left circle and Justin Faulk blasted a slap shot from above the right circle for his ninth goal of the year.
     They made it 4-2 at the 7:58 mark of the third period. Brayden Schenn stole the puck from Jones on the end wall and backhanded the puck. Stenberg touched it in the slot area and Neighbours buried a forehand from the low slot for his second tally of the contest and 10th goal this season. 
     The Blues increased their lead to 5-2 with 7:07 remaining in the third. Berggren passed it from behind the Cats cage. Buchnevich centered the puck from the right wing and Thomas scored on a snap shot from the inner right circle. Thomas added a shorthanded, empty-net goal as he intercepted a pass in the neutral zone and shot the puck from center ice for his second goal of the game and ninth goal of the year.
