The Milwaukee Brewers pulled away from the Miami Marlins 8-4 at Marlins Park on Tuesday night. The Fish have lost six of their last 10 games.
Both clubs showed production in the first two innings. Milwaukee(55-37) got ahead in the top of the first when Travis Shaw grounded into a fielder's choice and Eric Thames scored.
Miami(38-56) put up a pair of runs in the bottom of the frame. Garrett Cooper drove in Derek Dietrich with a base hit into center field. J.T. Riddle followed with a single to center which brought in Starlin Castro.
In the second inning, former Marlin Christian Yelich got a two-run single up the middle to score Jhoulys Chacin and Thames. Three batters later, Tyler Saladino knocked in Yelich and Jesus Aguilar with a base hit to left field for a 5-2 lead.
The Marlins answered back in the bottom of the second. Bryan Holaday scored on a sacrifice fly by Dietrich to left. The Fish got another tally in the fourth when Brian Anderson grounded out to short for Pablo Lopez to score and made it 5-4.
The Brewers got some distance in the late innings. Shaw powered a solo home run to right field in the eighth on a 3-2 pitch. Yelich compiled his third and fourth RBI of the contest during the ninth inning as he doubled to deep left and Erik Kratz along with Jonathan Villar crossed the plate.
