The Miami Marlins stopped the Milwaukee Brewers 5-4 in 12 innings on Wednesday night at Marlins Park. It was the fourth time in the last ten games that the Marlins had to play an extra-inning game.
The Brewers lobbied in front during the first. Jesus Aguilar doubled in Eric Thames with a shot into deep left-center field.
Milwaukee(55-38) got up by two runs in the third inning. Christian Yelich knocked in Thames on a base hit to center field.
Miami(39-56) scrambled back with four unanswered runs in the middle frames. In the fourth inning, Brian Anderson would score on a sacrifice fly by Starlin Castro to center. Justin Bour followed with a two-run homer to right-center field on a 2-2 pitch. The Fish later loaded the bases and Miguel Rojas crossed the plate when Dan Straily walked.
The Marlins extended their margin to 4-2 in the bottom of the sixth. Bryan Holaday drove in Prado with a single to left field.
The Brewers bounced back to tie the contest in the eighth. Thames and Yelich scored on a Aguilar double into deep left.
The contest between both clubs went into extra innings for the second time in three nights. Miami decided it in the 12th inning on a base hit by Starlin Castro to left field which brought in Garrett Cooper.
