Panthers Shoot Down Ducks

     The Florida Panthers scooted by the Anaheim Ducks 2-1 at Honda Center on Friday night. Panthers defensemen Aaron Ekblad and Brandon Montour made their 2023-24 season debuts with the team. 
     Cats goalie Anthony Stolarz faced his former club for the first time. He spent the past four seasons with the Ducks. Former Florida players Radko Gudas and Frank Vatrano also played against their former club. 
The Panthers completed a three-game California road trip and will next host Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers on Monday. 
     Florida(11-5-1) had a 1-0 advantage with 5:10 remaining in the first period. Anton Lundell fed the puck and Eetu Luostarinen placed in a wrist shot for his first tally this year. 
     In the second period, the Panthers expanded it to 2-0 with 1:54 left. Oliver Ekman-Larsson snapped a shot for his fifth goal of the season. Lundell and Nick Cousins were credited with assists on the play. 
     Anaheim(9-7-0) cut it to 2-1 on the power play at the 7:39 mark of the third period. Cam Fowler angled a pass from the top of the zone and Adam Henrique one-timed a slap shot from the low right circle which was saved. Vatrano tapped the puck into the cage from the top of the crease for his 12th goal of the 2023-24 campaign.
