South Florida High Schools In Second Round

     There were 56 tri-county South Florida high schools that entered the FHSAA Playoffs in 2023. 33 teams advanced to the next round of the postseason. Small schools in Class 1M did not play this past weekend because they have one less round in their classification. 
     Palm Beach County shifted from 14 teams to eight. Palm Beach Central, Santaluces, Boca Raton, West Boca Raton, The King's Academy and Pahokee moved on. Atlantic, Palm Beach Gardens, Jupiter, Spanish River, Somerset Academy Canyons and St. Andrew's fell. Cardinal Newman and Benjamin did not participate. 
     Broward County dropped from 21 high schools to 11. St. Thomas Aquinas, Blanche Ely, Cardinal Gibbons, American Heritage, Monarch, Western, Miramar, Coconut Creek and Calvary Christian Academy prevailed. Dillard, Piper, Stranahan, Plantation, McArthur, South Broward, West Broward, Cypress Bay, Marjory Stoneman Douglas and North Broward Prep lost. Chaminade-Madonna and Avant Garde Academy will wait until next week for their first playoff game. 
     Dade County went from 21 squads down to 14. Miami Central, Columbus, Booker T. Washington, Southridge, South Dade, Monsignor Pace, Miami Norland, Miami Palmetto, Homestead and Belen Jesuit were victorious. Miami Edison, Gulliver Prep, Hialeah, St. Brendan, Goleman, North Miami Beach and American were defeated. Tru North Academy, Palmer Trinity, Westminster Christian and Archbishop Carroll had the previous week off.
