Mets Slip By Marlins

The Miami Marlins were hitless in the first six innings as they lost to the New York Mets 4-2 in 10 innings at Marlins Park on Tuesday night. Mets starting pitcher Zack Wheeler had a no-hitter through 6 1/3 innings until it was broken up by Ed Lucas.
In the fourth inning, New York(48-56) picked up two runs against Nathan Eovaldi to take the early lead. David Wright began with a double to center field and advanced to third as Marlon Byrd flew out to right. Two batters later, former Marlin John Buck walked with two out. Juan Lagares followed with a triple into right-center field to score Wright and Buck.
Wheeler had a no-hitter after six innings until Miami(40-65) got to him during the bottom of the seventh. After Giancarlo Stanton struck out, Logan Morrison was able to walk. Lucas got the first hit of the game for the Fish as he sliced a single to right field. Donovan Solano knocked in Morrison with a base hit down the left-field line to make it 2-1. Jake Marisnick then picked up his first RBI in the big leagues with a single into shallow center field as Lucas crossed the plate to tie the game.
The game would go into extra innings as the Mets added two runs during the tenth inning off Steve Cishek. They compiled consecutive singles into right field by Wright and Byrd to start the frame. Ike Davis then walked to load the bases with none out. Wright and Byrd would score on a base hit by Buck into center field and regain the lead 4-2.
Wheeler went seven innings for the Metropolitans as he surrendered two runs on three hits. Eovaldi hurled six innings as he gave up two runs on four hits. Cishek allowed two runs on three hits in one inning of work as he dropped to 3-6 this season.
