The Miami Marlins fell short in a 2-1 loss against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field on Wednesday night. The Marlins have lost four of their six games since the all-star break.
Jacob Turner dropped to 3-3 for the Fish as he pitched six innings and surrendered two runs on six hits. Jorge De La Rosa went six innings for the Rockies and gave up no runs on five hits to raise his record to 10-5.
Colorado(49-53) got a two-out rally in the second inning to take the lead. Todd Helton doubled to deep left field and Nolan Arenado followed with a base hit to left which scored Helton.
In the fifth inning, the Rockies padded their margin with an additional run. Yorvit Torrealba led off with a single to left-center field and advanced to second on a De La Rosa sacrifice bunt. Torrealba went to third on a base hit to right by Dexter Fowler. D.J. LeMahieu knocked in Torrealba on a sacrifice fly to center field.
Miami(37-62) avoided a shutout for the fourth time in six games as they picked up a run during the eighth inning against Matt Belisle. After Ed Lucas started with a base hit, he was forced out at second as Placido Polanco advanced to second on a throwing error during an attempted double play. He moved to third on a Jake Marisnick ground out to first. Polanco crossed the plate on a single to right field by Donovan Solano.
