640 Sports WMEN-AM has moved midday host Andy Slater to the early afternoon shift as of August 6. Slater has held the midday slot at the station from April 2011 until late July 2013. He loses one hour to his program and will now be on the air from 1 P.M. until 3 P.M. Dan Sileo replaces WMEN program director Marc Eisenberg and will take over the midday shift from 10 A.M. until 1 P.M.
Slater, a Franklin Pierce College grad, was once a Florida Marlins visiting clubhouse attendant and worked with the Oakland Raiders organization prior to his broadcasting career. He began at WMEN when the station flipped to sports in 2008 as a weekend co-host and was elevated to the afternoon co-host position in 2009. Slater was moved to the evening shift in January 2010 when the station hired Ed Kaplan.
He was promoted to the midday shift in April 2011 when the New York Yankees Radio Network took over the evening slot. Slater has co-hosted a Saturday midday show with longtime Miami sports host Hank Goldberg at Gulfstream Park during football season in 2011 and 2012.
