Valencia only needed one goal as they got by Everton 1-0 in the fifth-place game of the International Champions Cup on Tuesday night at Sun Life Stadium. Both squads won their first-round games but lost in their second-round games. It was the first meeting ever between both organizations.
Everton F.C. have won nine England First Division titles and five F.A. Cups while Valencia C.F. has captured six La Liga championships and seven Copa Del Rey trophies in Spain.
Neither team was able to score in the first half. Valencia midfielder Michel Herrero broke the tie early in the second half in the 52nd minute as he half-volleyed a ball with his right foot from 18 yards away by Toffees goalkeeper Joel Robles.
