AC Milan dominated the third-place of the International Champions Cup with a 2-0 shutout of the Los Angeles Galaxy at Wednesday night at Sun Life Stadium in Miami. Both teams lost their first-round games and bounced back with victories in the second round to get in this position.
Los Angeles has won four Major League Soccer championships which included winning the last two titles in 2011 and 2012. AC Milan has captured 18 Serie A titles in Italy, seven European championships and four World Club title matches.
In the 17th minute, the Italian club capitalized on a turnover by Galaxy forward Robbie Keane in his own left corner. Forward Mario Balotelli intercepted the ball at the 17-yard line and pounded in a shot with the right foot by goalie Carlo Cudicini.
AC Milan widened their lead to 2-0 during the 40th minute. Forward Mbaye Niang unleashed a shot from 20 yards away through traffic in front that bounced off the left post and into the net. Los Angeles was down by two goals at halftime as neither team scored in the second half.
