Former New York City sportscaster Steve Malzberg has been the afternoon talk host on Big Talk 850 WFTL-AM in Fort Lauderdale since early August. It is a simulcast of his afternoon television show on Newsmax.com. His show was also just picked up by 1450 WCTC-AM in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He was a weekend sports anchor at Sports Radio 66 WFAN-AM during 2012.
Malzberg, who has been based in New York City throughout his broadcasting career, worked for over 20 years at 77 WABC-AM as a sports anchor, fill-in talk host and afternoon co-host with Richard Bey. He had a long stint as the sports director at Shadow Broadcasting Services in Rutherford, New Jersey during the 1990's and early 2000's.
He moved away from sports broadcasting and into a general talk format when he did the late night host shift at WABC. His next stop was at 1600 WWRL-AM as a morning co-host from 2004 until July 2005. After a brief stop announcing sports commentary segments at WABC in 2006, he then went to 710 WOR-AM as an evening host in May 2007 and was later elevated to the afternoon host position. Malzberg would remain at that station until August 2011.
