The Glades Central Raiders had an impressive showing as they pounded the Coral Springs Colts 48-7 in a kickoff classic on Friday night at James M. Caldwell Field. The Raiders, who compiled 41 unanswered points in this contest, will host the Dwyer Panthers for the first game of the regular season next week.

They would get a 67-yard touchdown run by running back Jerry Jones down the left sideline on the first play of their next drive. Oscar Garcia converted the extra point as the maroon-and-gold led 13-0 with 6:46 to go in the first.
Midway through the second quarter, Coral Springs quarterback Shawn Nichols flung a ball that was intercepted by safety Devante Seabrook and was returned 30 yards to the Colts two-yard line. Three plays later, the Raiders scored on a 15-yard pass up the middle by backup quarterback Jonathan Istache to wide receiver Isiah Johnson. Garcia made the extra point with 5:15 left to make it 20-0.
On the first play of the Raiders final drive of the first half, Tarver caught a 45-yard touchdown reception on the left side from Istache with 2:17 remaining as they extended the gap to 27-0.
Glades Central continued to roll as they got into the end zone on their first play of the second half. Jones caught a screen pass near the left sideline, avoided several tackles and scored from 35 yards away at 7:24 of the third quarter. Garcia put through the extra point as the team from Belle Glade was up 34-0.
The Colts broke the shutout with 1:20 left in the third quarter. Nichols rolled out right on a fourth-down play and rocketed a 25-yard pass to the right side of the end zone where it was brought in by wide receiver Moises Alcesceis. Adrian Pesagrato kicked through the extra point as Coral Springs closed the margin to 41-7.
Lugo capped the scoring for the Raiders as he sneaked in with a run up the middle from one yard out with 9:35 to go in the fourth quarter. There was a running clock for the remainder of the game due to more than a 35-point lead in the final quarter as Glades Central were way ahead 48-7.
