The Miami Marlins disposed the New York Mets 8-1 at Citi Field on Friday night. It began the final three games of the season for both the Marlins and Mets.
New York(75-85) led early as they got a run in the first inning. Amed Rosario singled into center field to score Jeff McNeil.
The rest of the contest belong to Miami(63-96). They tied it during the fourth as Peter O'Brien scored on a fielder's choice by Magneuri Sierra.
The Fish created two runs in the fifth inning. O'Brien doubled to deep left field which brought in Miguel Rojas. Lewis Brinson later hit a double into deep left to bring in O'Brien. They made it 4-1 in the sixth when Starlin Castro grounded into a fielder's choice and Jose Urena scored.
The Marlins expanded their margin to four runs in the top of the seventh. Austin Dean knocked in Brian Anderson with a single into center field and Brinson scored from third on a wild pitch during the next at-bat.
They increased their lead to 7-1 as Rojas drove in Dean on a base hit into left-center field. Miami capped the frame when Rojas crossed the plate on a single by J.T. Realmuto.
