The Pahokee Blue Devils made the trip across Palm Beach County and defeated the Boynton Beach Tigers 47-23 on Thursday night. It was a rare contest between both schools.
Boynton Beach(0-5) jumped to the lead 7-0 midway through the first quarter on their first possession. Quarterback Guenson Alexis plunged in from two yards away at 6:21.
After the Blue Devils were stopped in the red zone, a Tigers handoff was fumbled and defensive lineman Te'quan Kinsler returned it eight yards for a score at the 3:04 mark.
The Tigers would turn over the ball on the ensuing kickoff and Pahokee(3-2) recovered it at the nine-yard line. Two plays later, quarterback Jaeze Tracey connected a 12-yard touchdown toss to running back LeVonski Williams with 2:38 left in the first.
The Blue Devils extended their lead to 21-7 at 7:51 of the second quarter. Tracey found wide receiver Jasteven Jordan on a fly pattern in the middle for a 32-yard score.
Pahokee fumbled the ball away on a punt return at their own 26-yard line. A 25-yard field goal by Tigers kicker Azor Schneider closed the gap to 21-10 with 1:46 remaining in the second.
The third quarter belonged to the Blue Devils as they reached the end zone on their first two drives. Tracey fired the ball to wide receiver Lamonte Graham on the right hash marks and he sprinted in for a 43-yard touchdown at the 9:50 mark. They added another score at 7:14 when Williams busted in through the left side from two yards out for a 25-point margin.
The Tigers got on the scoreboard with 5:12 to go in the fourth quarter. Alexis threw a nine-yard pass to wide receiver Verwayne Alexander on the right side of the end zone to make it 41-17.
Both would exchange touchdowns in the next few minutes. Jordan caught his second touchdown of the game from Tracey for Pahokee on a 25-yard pass play as he was in front of the end zone at 3:49.
Boynton Beach did not give up as running back Nathan Brown caught a 12-yard swing pass to the right from Alexis with 1:46 left. The Blue Devils responded immediately as Jordan returned the onside kickoff for a score.
