The Florida Panthers fell to the Nashville Predators 5-0 at BB&T Center in Sunrise on Monday. It was the first game of the annual doubleheader between both clubs. The Panthers and Predators have met in a preseason doubleheader for the last six seasons going back in 2013.
Nashville scored during their first power play at 3:02 of the first period. Calle Jarnkrok sent a wrist shot from the low right circle past Michael Hutchinson. Victor Arvidsson and Kyle Turris were credited with assists on the play.
The Predators made it 2-0 with 7:13 left in the second period. Anthony Bitetto connected a cross-ice pass from the right circle to the left circle and P.K. Subban blasted in a one-time slapshot.
A former Panther burned Florida at the 3:26 mark of the third for the Preds to go up 3-0. Rocco Grimaldi redirected a shot from the right side of the Panthers cage on a snap shot by Yannick Weber from the right point.
Florida surrendered a shorthanded goal with 4:30 remaining in the period. Mikka Salomaki put an initial shot on net and Pyrochta followed as he lifted a backhand shot from the right of the crease. Nashville added one more tally with 3:14 left on a wrist shot from Frederick Gaudreau in the slot area.
