The New England Patriots dominated the Miami Dolphins 38-7 at Gillette Stadium on Sunday. It was the Fins 10th consecutive loss in New England. The division lead the Dolphins had over Patriots in the AFC East is now down to one game.
The Pats scored the only points of the first quarter. Stephen Gostkowski booted a 20-yard field goal with 5:30 to go in the first.
New England(2-2) was able to compile 21 points during the second quarter of play. Quarterback Tom Brady completed a 55-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson at the 12:11 mark.
Two former St. Thomas Aquinas players were involved in the Patriots next two scores. Running back James White rushed through the middle of the field and scored from 22 yards away at 7:36. Wide receiver caught a nine-yard pass in the end zone from Brady with 23 seconds left in the first half.
In the third quarter, White received a swing pass on the right side for a 14-yard score at the 6:54 mark. Running back Sony Michel, an American Heritage grad, sprinted to the left side and reached the end zone from 10 yards out early in the fourth quarter at 13:48 and gave New England a 38-point margin.
Miami(3-1) finally got on the scoreboard with 2:49 remaining in the contest. Quarterback Brock Osweiler connected a six-yard touchdown pass to running back Frank Gore.
